The Loubsers from Fair Cape have transformed healthy dairy farming into a powerful business that delivers milk and milk products to a select market.

Dr Joggie Briedenhann is a first-class farmer in Namibia. Science is his password. He managed to tame the dry landscape and is the most successful Bonsmara farmer in the country.

After a huge setback in 1989 Jill and Alan Whyte decided to process their own nuts. Today Jill is the chief executive officer of an international nut business.

Steven Mohale farms successfully on native soil and doesn't own the title deed to the farm. He specialises in high quality tomatoes, which he sells at leading fresh produce markets.

In 2002 Mick Selby lost his family farm in Zimbabwe due to land reform and had to start over in Zambia. Today he runs an extensive farming enterprise.

Since 1964 the third generation Angus family farms on Woodview in the Free State. Brian Angus is known as the first and biggest breeder of the Japanese Wagyu cattle in South Africa.

Wilnick Farm is near Tolwe in Limpopo. It's here that Nico Wagner farms with potatoes, sweetcorn, game and cattle on 6 300 hectare. In 2018 he was crowned the Potato Farmer of the Year.

Dawie Joubert is a prominent farmer in Zimbabwe who is involved in Brahman breeding and Macadamia nuts production. With good communication and negotiation he managed to keep a piece of his land during land reform in this country.

Roy Plath is one of the biggest banana farmers in the country. Umbhaba Estates is also 100% organic. The farm recycle plastic, transport their own produce and grow their own plants.

Mooigezicht Estates in the Hex River Valley is a third-generation family business owned by the Rossouw family. What started as a family business decades ago has developed into a thriving table grape production and export company. 

The Leslies from Clan Leslie near Harrismith in the Free State have been farming in this area for almost a century and a half.

Dirk Louw, last year's emerging farmer of the year is a raisin farmer near Groblershoop. He talks about what contributed to his success, his perseverance against all odds and his plans for the future.
