Why is Showmax being discontinued? The Showmax app is being discontinued as we bring Showmax Originals, local and international content together with live TV and sport on DStv Stream, creating a single place to watch more entertainment in one app.
- What happens to my subscription?
When your current Showmax subscription expires, you will be able to subscribe to DStv Compact, DStv Compact Plus or DStv Stream Premium to continue watching Showmax Originals and more.
- Will I get a refund?
Showmax customers who have never had DStv or DStv Stream previously, or Showmax customers who had DStv or DStv Stream in the past but have not used the service in six months or longer, will receive a limited-time offer to access Showmax Originals and more on DStv Stream. Customers who prefer not to move to DStv Stream will be able to request a refund for any remaining Showmax subscription period.
- When does Showmax stop?
The Showmax streaming service will be discontinued on 30 April 2026 at 23:59.
- What happens to all the shows I was watching?
Many popular Showmax titles will be available on DStv Stream, along with Showmax Originals, live channels and world-class sport. Your profiles and watch history will not move across, giving you a fresh start to explore everything available on DStv Stream. It’s a chance to enjoy all the new content available, including 100+ live channels and more live sports.
- Why isn’t everything on Showmax available on DStv Stream?
While many popular Showmax titles and Originals will be available on DStv Stream, some titles can't move due to content licensing agreements. More content will be added to the Showmax section in the coming months, alongside a growing catalogue of local and international entertainment on DStv Stream.
