When the closure of a struggling community station is announced, the staff decide to pit rivals, DJ Tsietsi and DJ Whiskey, against each other to see who can create the best line-up.
DJ Whiskey and DJ Tsietsi try to outshine each other and get the listeners to support their respective teams. Meanwhile, Pius works on a plan to use the radio station for his shady business.
Tsietsi realises his campaign needs to attract the youth, while Whiskey attempts to sabotage Team Tsietsi. Back at the station, Queen and Pius plan something sinister.
Queen establishes her presence at 016 FM. She has bought new state-of-the-art studio equipment and furniture for the station. Meanwhile, Tsietsi tries a drastic new look.
Tsietsi worries that his makeover has cost him his loyal fans, while Whiskey stresses about the momentum Tsietsi's campaign seems to be gaining. Keith changes a live read - with dire consequences.
Karabo covers for Tsietsi when he spends a day at the hospital with a critically ill Mama Jane. Whiskey and TK narrowly escape a fatal shootout.
People of the Vaal pay tribute to the late Mama Jane. Tsietsi struggles with his loss. La Toya surprises Whiskey in the supply closet. TK makes a surprise connection with Pius's gang.
Tsietsi returns home from burying his mother and is moved to find Team Tsietsi's popularity has exploded. He finally learns the truth about his parents' divorce.
Violence heats up in the Vaal with Sebokeng and Sharpeville divided. Tsietsi has a narrow escape when he ventures into Sebokeng. Whiskey offers Karabo a slot on his Kwaal line-up.
After finding a suspicious amount of cash in Queen's desk, Tsietsi decides to investigate. Whiskey is worried when TK doesn't come home. Karabo joins Team Whiskey. Keith is kidnapped.
There's excitement as everyone gets ready for the Kwaal of The Vaal. Meanwhile, Karabo's still upset with Tsietsi, and Keith is still missing.
Kwaal kicks off with excited crowds. Whiskey is determined to bring down Pius. Meanwhile, Keith is locked up in the supply room with Gucci, and Mosoeu realises he knows one of his kidnappers.
The Kwaal is going well, but Pius is still holding Mosoeu and TK hostage. Can the 016 FM team keep it all together to deliver an incredible Kwaal and rescue their loved ones?
