Tom Niemandt takes an unexpected trip to the Karoo, and meets an eclectic group of people who change his life forever.

Tom struggles to find his feet in Merweville and against his will are pulled into a search for Gert's father. Herman helps Gerwin out around her house that leads to tension between him and Stef.

Old wounds are opened up when Tom's friends from the Cape arrives in Merweville. The book club host a variety concert that test various relationships.

The arrival of a sensual guest turns Tom's world on its head. Hanli tries to work on her relationship with Johan. Sofia can't get enough of the book Tom gets them to read.

There's a ghost on walking in town. Sofia makes money, Tom and Gerwin chase cat evil and Gert gets an unexpected visitor. Lillie and Jan go camping.

In a single day, three of the book club members are confronted with their own lives and sometimes painful truths. Like all of us, they wish, they can sometimes see the future in.

It's Sofia's 65th birthday and she finally gets her driver's license. She decides to visit the members of the book club and like a proper mom, must comfort and put band-aids on as far as she goes.

Anna becomes more aware of her impending death. Oblivious to her crisis, life goes on for everyone else and Tom, Herman and Gert decide to take the law into their own hands.

While Anna's life hangs in the balance, every member of the book club is confronted with their own humanity. For some it brings liberation, for others insight, but everyone is affected.

It's a difficult time in the town. Anna struggles to make peace with her new heart. Stef and Herman's relationship is off balance and nothing seem to run smooth for Johan and Hanli.

Gerwin fights tenaciously on behalf of and for Andre, but is unsure about the outcome. Tom and Lilly play cat-and-mouse games. Sofia has a plan up her sleeve. Gert and Petro need a fresh start.

On a day when time stands still and memories flood through Tom, Lillie and Sofia's heads, a discovery is made that can tear the book club apart.

Old love is rekindled, new relationships start, a family tie is bound, and Tom must make the biggest decision of his life.
