Hier Gaan Ons Alweer, Episode 1

Season 21 kicks off in the Southern Cape, where Protea angler Petri de Wet challenges his angling friends for a friendly but serious competition to see who can catch the biggest edible fish.

Petri de Wet tours up to the centre of Johannesburg to find out how to target big carp in syndicate dams. He uses specimen techniques to catch these trophy fish successfully.

Petri and his team visit another syndicate dam, Carp Haven, near Bronkhorstspruit. Then they travel Roodekoppies Dam where Petri joins world champion bass angler Justy Varkevisser.

The team visits a carp competition at Roodekoppies to witness the prize-winning carp. Petri and Gilbert go hunting for carp in the shallows.

The team catches a few more barbels in the backwater and then sets off to the luscious green banks of the Vaal River, where they target large carp and land a few bumper mudfish.

After a quick session at the Vaal, the team hunts large carp in the Bushveld and experiences the spawning season. Petri then catches an absolute monster of a carp in the Western Cape.

The lake-and-beach tour kicks off, and the anglers compete for the best-tasting fish. The lake boys, Petri and Werner catch monster kob to counter the brilliant catches of the beach boys.

The beach boys land a great mussel cracker whilst the lake boys hit back with massive kob from the boat. Later the beach boys chase even bigger fish, and their reels get stripped by giants.

The lake boys are getting reinforcements in utilising another boat with Pieter Bouwer and Ruben Gouws that target the edibles, but the beach boys will not give up easily and keep fighting.

The lake boys are onto nice grunters for the grill and monster cob, while the beach boys are hitting back hard with large toothy monsters and a very special catch – a thresher shark.
