After scaling back his role in the Bureau and still reeling from a family tragedy, Special Agent Tom Brandis reluctantly returns to the field to head a new, relatively inexperienced team to investigate a string of robberies.

As he prepares for an emotional court appearance, Tom buries himself in the case, while Emily questions her obligations to the family. Later, Maeve makes a critical choice to protect her own family.

As Robbie and Cliff try to find a potential buyer, Tom and Grasso level with the Dark Hearts, and Aleah and Lizzie question Peaches' former coworkers.

In the midst of preparing for a key operation, Tom questions the loyalty of his Task Force, while Robbie and Cliff plan for their meeting at the park. Meanwhile, Perry searches for answers within the gang.

With help from an eyewitness, Tom and his team inch closer to breaking the case. Perry pays Maeve a visit, while Robbie puts his plan in motion. Later, Tom follows a lead that takes him down a dangerous path.
